Gaspar HOYOS

Flûte | Soloist at Opéra National de Lorraine


Gaspar Hoyos is one of the most appreciated flutists of his generation. His sensibility and virtuosity have been recognized by public and critics worldwide : in South and North America, Europe, Japan, China, Taiwan. He won prizes at international competition Jean-Pierre Rampal (1998), Marjneukirchen (Germany, 1998) and NFA Young Artist Competition (USA, 1995).

In October 2011, he has been invited by El Sistema (FESNOJIV) for the John Corigliano festival in Caracas - Venezuela. He has played Pied Piper Fantasy with Simón Bolívar Orchestra in Venezuela, in the presence of the composer.

His first CD "Bravissimo" was published in Japan by Octavia Records. His recording of the complete flute sonatas by JS. Bach with the harpsichord player Jory Vinikour has been published by Lontano. He also recordd a disc of French-Colombian repertoire with the pianist Hugues Leclère to celebrate the 40 years of Banco de la Republica concert hall in Bogota. They will play again in Bogota for the 50 years of the venue.

Currently First soloist at the Orchestre Symphonique et Lyrique de Nancy, Gaspar Hoyos is often invited by prestigious orchestras (Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra, Lima Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de Nancy, New Mexico Symphonic Orchestra, Ensemble “La Follia”, San Angelo Orchestra... ), and he leads an active chamber music player career.

Accomplished concert artist and laureate of the great international flute competitions, he took part to Festivals in Europe (Montpellier - Radio France, Musica Riva, Nancyphonies, Guebwiller, festival de Clairac, festival Sierra Musical de Navacerrada, in Madrid), 2e Convention de Flûte in Paris, 2nd European flute Festival in Frankfurt, Istria Festival (Croatia), Festival International à Obernai); in Japan (Flute Japanese association Festival); in the USA (Boston, New York, Chicago, Orlando, Albuquerque); and in South America (Bogota, Cali, Medellín, Lima).

As a reknowned professor, he often gives masterclasses in the USA, Colomba, Peru, Croatia, France, Japan, Taiwan... He manages the flute course organised by Musical Youth in Croatia each summer and is teaches at the Rencontres Musicales en Lorraine (Nancy). His exercises book « Flûte essentielle » has been published by Gérard Billaudot, Paris.

Gaspar Hoyos studied with Paula Robison at the New England Conservatory of Boston, and then in Paris in Raymond Guiot's class. He were the last flutist to receive the precious advices of Jean-Pierre Rampal before he died.
